Connecting to the console port of an interconnect switch

This section covers the procedure to connect to the console port of an interconnect switch.

To connect to the IOIOI console port, follow these steps:

  1. If your computer has a serial port, use the DB9–to–RJ45 console cable included in the interconnect switch box.

Alternatively, you can use a USB–to–serial RJ45 adapter cable to connect the console.

  2. If your using Windows to connect to the console port, open a terminal emulator and connect to the interconnect using the following settings:
    • connection type = serial

    • serial COM port

    • default baud rate = 115,200 bps

    • parity = none

    • data bits = 8

    • stop bits = 1

    • flow control = XON/XOFF

    Note:

The COM port corresponding to your serial cable can be found in the Windows Device Manager.

  3. If your using Linux to connect to the console port, follow these steps:
    1. Look at the dmesg output to find the USB device that corresponds to the serial cable.
    2. Execute the following command:

      screen /dev/ttyUSB0 “115200,-crtsdts”

    3. Press Enter twice.

You are now connected to the interconnect switch via the console port.
